Silicon Carbide SiC 1-5mm
The production process of SiC involves the reaction between silica sand and petroleum coke at high temperatures in an electric resistance furnace. The process is carefully controlled to ensure the production of a high-quality product with excellent properties such as high strength, high hardness, and good thermal conductivity.

Description
Silicon carbide (SiC) is a synthetic compound made up of silicon and carbon. It is a highly durable and hard material with excellent thermal conductivity, high melting point, and high electrical conductivity. SiC is produced through a combination of high temperature and pressure. The most common method for producing SiC is the Acheson process, which involves the following steps:
Raw Material Preparation: The raw materials for producing SiC are silica sand and petroleum coke. These materials are carefully selected and mixed in the desired proportions. Other materials such as sawdust or salt may also be added to improve the porosity of the final product.
Furnace Charging: The raw materials are charged into an electric resistance furnace lined with carbon bricks. The furnace is heated to a temperature of around 2200°C, which causes the carbon in the coke to react with the silica to form SiC.
SiC Formation: As the temperature of the furnace increases, the reaction between the carbon and silica becomes more vigorous, and SiC crystals begin to form. The SiC crystals grow as the reaction proceeds, and eventually, a solid SiC mass is formed.
Crushing and Sieving: The solid SiC mass is crushed and sieved to the desired size. The size of the SiC grains can vary depending on the intended application.
Chemical Treatment: The SiC grains may undergo chemical treatment to remove any impurities that may affect their quality. The treatment may involve the use of acid, alkali, or other chemicals.
Packaging and Storage: The final SiC product is then packaged in suitable containers and stored in a dry, well-ventilated area until it is ready for shipment.
